I realize I was M.I.A. for the majority of the year, so let me start at the beginning.

In February interviews were held for internships for the upcoming school year. I've been so certain about doing an internship for most of my education, so I knew what I had to do. I did face a little doubt, but I knew I would regret it if I didn't try. February 28th came and my interview was at 3:15 in the afternoon. I arrived the suggested 15 minutes early, and they were actually running ahead of schedule, so they ushered me right in. And here's the weird part- it didn't freak me out. I was so calm, and it wasn't because I was feeling confident. When you walk into a room with twelve people- principals and intern coaches from six different schools- that are there to pick apart your brain, you don't exactly feel confident. But I faked it as best as I could. I smiled and laughed at their jokes and pulled out the best cheesy (but true) answers I could think of. I was the second to last interview of the day for the district, which probably helped because I was still on their minds. I got a phone call from one of the principles about an hour later, offering me a job at his school to teach second grade. I still can't believe it sometimes. I'm so insanely lucky that everything I've imagined is becoming a reality.

After the call, I had about a month of normal life. There wasn't much to do yet. I went to the school and met the second grade team and even worked with the students. As the end of the semester started approaching, it was time to gear up for the next one- summer. If you receive an internship, you obviously can't attend classes in the fall, therefore you take them all sped up in the summer. Which is where I'm at now, and let me tell you- FUN. As hard as it already is (only two weeks in) and will continue to be, there is a hint of excitement. It's setting in. It's almost time to start planning lessons and set up my classroom! I have so many questions that I feel sorry for my intern coach. I'm sure I'm driving her crazy, but I just want to know everything! I'm never going to be doing this for the first time again and I just want to soak it all in.

That being said, I'm probably going to spill school stuff on here all the time. And post a zillion pictures of my classroom. I've already started the craziness on Pinterest. And I just found out today that I'm going to have 25 adorable second grade kiddos in my class! I can't wait.
